Why labs & institutions choose Mapped

Research groups don't just need a tool — they need consistent methodology, defensible records, and pricing their finance team can approve. Mapped delivers all three at the infrastructure layer.

One methodology across every researcher

PRISMA enforcement, blinded dual-reviewer screening, Cohen's kappa IRR, eight validated risk-of-bias instruments, and GRADE per outcome are built into the workflow — not left to each researcher's discipline. Every review your institution's name sits behind follows the same rigorous standard, whether it's a first-year's rapid review or a multi-year living review.

Audit-ready for accreditation, IRB & peer review

Every screening decision, extracted value, risk-of-bias judgement, AI suggestion, and human override is immutably logged with timestamps and user attribution. Accreditation reviews, IRB submissions, and journal peer-review queries answer themselves. Full data export at any time — your institution's evidence base is never locked in.

Admin, SSO & access control

Custom Enterprise plans add single sign-on, a central admin console, and tenant-wide audit exports. The five-role hierarchy (Principal Investigator, Lead Reviewer, Reviewer, Methodologist, Observer) with stage-level permissions maps onto supervisor structures most labs already run — no custom configuration required.

Procurement-friendly pricing

Pay per project, not per seat — so budgets scale with output, not headcount. Volume pricing, purchase orders, and consolidated invoicing are available on institutional contracts, with unlimited projects and team members under a single tenant. No annual per-user lock-in.

Onboarding & training that scales

Dedicated onboarding gets your researchers and supervisors productive fast. Because the same interface and methodology carry across every study type — intervention, prognostic, DTA, NMA, and scoping — training overhead shrinks as your lab grows. Rotating supervisors and new students find their way without hand-holding.

Built for departments and multi-site groups

Multi-project oversight with live KPIs across screening, extraction, RoB, and analysis stages gives department heads a single 'where are we' surface for every active review. Co-authoring across institutions and time zones works out of the box through Google Workspace integration.

How institutional licensing works

Three ways to buy, depending on how many concurrent reviews you run and how much central control you want. Start where you are today; the next tier is always a migration, never a rebuild.

Pooled project credits

Labs and small departments, fastest to launch

  • Pre-purchase a pool of project credits at volume pricing
  • Researchers draw from the pool as they start new reviews
  • Consolidated invoicing — one PO, one finance contact
  • No platform changes; your existing supervisor structure is unchanged

Department license

Departments and research units that want central control

  • Fixed number of concurrent projects per term at tiered pricing
  • Central admin console for your operations and finance teams
  • Department branding on dashboards and exports
  • Onboarding support for researchers and supervisors

Custom Enterprise tenant

Universities and large multi-site research groups

  • Dedicated tenant with SSO and tenant-wide audit exports
  • Unlimited projects and team members under one contract
  • Custom journal presets and optional EU data residency
  • Flat-rate annual contract; volume and term-length discounts apply

Questions institutional buyers ask

How do institutions buy Mapped — can you handle POs and invoicing?
Yes. Institutional contracts support purchase orders, consolidated invoicing, and annual billing in addition to card payment. You can pre-purchase pooled project credits, license a fixed number of concurrent projects per term, or move to a flat-rate Custom Enterprise tenant. Pricing scales with project volume, not per-seat headcount.
Do you support SSO and a central admin console?
Single sign-on (SAML/OIDC), a central admin console, and tenant-wide audit exports are included on Custom Enterprise plans. Admins can manage members, monitor projects across the institution, and export aggregated activity for accreditation and reporting.
Do individual researchers or collaborators each need a paid plan?
No. Mapped is priced per project, and only the project owner's plan is charged. Collaborators get full access to any project they're invited to at no extra cost. Under an institutional tenant, your researchers draw from the institution's project pool rather than buying individually.
What about data residency, IRB, and HIPAA?
The platform is hosted on Supabase (US-based, SOC 2 compliant) with full data export at any time. Mapped is not currently HIPAA-certified; data should be de-identified per your IRB protocol before upload. Custom Enterprise contracts can include EU data residency, BAA discussions, and dedicated infrastructure where required.
Can students and trainees use the same institutional plan?
Yes. Students, trainees, postdocs, and faculty all work in the same environment under your institution's tenant or project pool. The five-role hierarchy and stage-level permissions let supervisors oversee trainee work with blinded dual-reviewer enforcement and an immutable audit trail.
How is this different from the cohort-agency program?
Our partners program is built for agencies that run research-cohort programs on behalf of others. The institutional plan is for universities, hospital research departments, and labs deploying Mapped for their own researchers. If you run cohort programs commercially, see mappedresearch.com/partners.
