Terms of Service

By creating an account, accessing, or using the mapped platform ("Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Mapped Research LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Mapped," "we," "our," or "us").

If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

By checking the "I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy" checkbox during registration, you manifest your affirmative consent to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. This constitutes a binding clickwrap agreement enforceable under the United States Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN Act).

Mapped provides a cloud-based, AI-assisted platform for conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses of published medical and scientific literature. The Service includes tools for:

• Research question formulation and PICOS framework generation
• Acceptance likelihood validation and research gap analysis
• Automated literature search across multiple databases
• Title, abstract, and full-text screening
• Data extraction and quality assessment
• Meta-analysis with statistical computation
• GRADE assessment and manuscript generation
• Team collaboration and project management

The Service is designed exclusively for secondary research—the analysis of previously published literature and publicly available research databases.

The Service incorporates artificial intelligence ("AI") models from multiple providers to assist with research tasks. You acknowledge and agree that:

• AI provides suggestions only. All AI-generated outputs—including screening recommendations, extracted data, risk assessments, statistical analyses, and draft text—are suggestions and recommendations, not definitive conclusions.
• You are solely responsible for all research decisions. The researcher makes 100% of the final decisions regarding inclusion, exclusion, interpretation, and conclusions. Mapped bears no responsibility for any research decision you make using the Service.
• AI outputs are not medical advice. Nothing generated by the Service constitutes medical advice, clinical guidance, peer-reviewed findings, or professional recommendations of any kind.
• You must independently verify all AI-generated content. Before relying on, publishing, or acting upon any output from the Service, you are responsible for verifying its accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.
• No warranty on AI accuracy. Mapped makes no representation or warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of any AI-generated content.
• Not a medical device. The Service is a research workflow tool and is not a medical device, clinical decision support system, or diagnostic tool as defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any equivalent regulatory body. The Service is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.

The Service is designed for secondary research only—the systematic review and analysis of previously published literature, publicly available databases, and aggregated research data. You agree that:

• You will not upload, transmit, or process any primary patient data, protected health information (PHI), personally identifiable health records, or any data subject to HIPAA or equivalent health data protection regulations.
• You are solely responsible for ensuring that all data you upload complies with applicable laws, regulations, and your institutional ethics requirements, including Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee approvals where applicable.
• You represent that all content you upload does not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights, copyrights, or other proprietary rights.

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Maintain and promptly update your account information
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately at security@mappedresearch.com of any unauthorized access or security breach
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. Accounts are personal and may not be transferred, shared, or used by multiple individuals unless part of a team subscription.

You retain all ownership rights to the research data, projects, analyses, and content you create or upload to the Service ("Your Data"). By using the Service, you grant Mapped a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

• Store, process, and display Your Data solely to provide the Service to you
• Create backups and maintain data availability as part of normal operations
• Process Your Data through AI models solely to generate the research outputs you request

We will not use Your Data to train AI models without your explicit, separate opt-in consent. We may use anonymized, aggregated usage statistics (not Your Data) to improve the Service.

AI-generated outputs (including screening suggestions, extracted data, statistical results, and draft text) produced through the Service using Your Data are considered part of Your Data. Mapped claims no ownership of these outputs.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and scientific quality of Your Data and any research outputs derived from it. Mapped does not verify or validate the scientific accuracy of your research content.

7.1 Ownership. The Service, including all software, source code, algorithms, user interface designs, visual layouts, workflows, features, documentation, generated report formats, and content (excluding Your Data), is the exclusive property of Mapped Research LLC and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

7.2 Limited License. Subject to these Terms, Mapped grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service solely for your internal research purposes.

7.3 Restrictions on Publication and Disclosure. You agree that you will not, without the prior written consent of Mapped:

• Share non-public features, screenshots, screen recordings, or content of the Service with any third party
• Publish, disclose, or permit any third party to publish any benchmarks, performance tests, reviews, comparisons, or evaluations of the Service
• Publish academic papers, articles, blog posts, social media posts, or any other public communication describing the Service's functionality, performance, or internal features in detail
• Access the Service for the purpose of building a competitive product or service, or to copy any ideas, features, functions, or graphics of the Service

7.4 Limited Citation Right. You may reference the Service by name and link to the public website (mappedresearch.com) in publications describing your research methodology (e.g., "screening was performed using mapped [mappedresearch.com]") without prior consent. This limited citation right does not extend to screenshots, detailed feature descriptions, performance evaluations, or comparative analyses.

7.5 Copyright and DMCA. All user interface elements, page layouts, feature designs, and generated report formats are copyrighted works of Mapped Research LLC. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or publication may be subject to DMCA takedown notices and civil liability under 17 U.S.C. § 501 et seq.

7.6 Reverse Engineering. You must not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive source code, algorithms, or internal methodologies from the Service.

7.7 Trademarks. "mapped," the mapped logo, and associated branding are trademarks of Mapped Research LLC. Use without prior written permission is prohibited.

Violation of this Section 7 constitutes grounds for immediate account termination and may result in legal action.

Certain features of the Service require a paid subscription. By subscribing, you agree to:

• Pay all fees associated with your selected subscription plan
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date
• We will provide at least 30 days' written notice before any price increases take effect for existing subscribers
• You are responsible for all applicable taxes, duties, and government charges

Subscriptions are billed in advance. You may cancel at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are provided only as required by applicable law or at our sole discretion.

Your use of the Service is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose, to upload prohibited content (including primary patient data), or to engage in any activity that disrupts or harms the Service or other users.

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time, with or without notice.

Uptime commitments and service level agreements (SLAs) are available only to Institution-tier subscribers under separate written agreements.

The Service integrates with third-party services including large language model (LLM) providers, cloud infrastructure providers, productivity integrations, and research databases (PubMed, PROSPERO, and others). These integrations are subject to the respective third parties' terms of service and privacy policies. Mapped is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MAPPED RESEARCH LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

MAPPED IS A RESEARCH TOOL AND DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL ADVICE. ALL AI-GENERATED CONTENT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THE ACCURACY AND APPROPRIATENESS OF ALL RESEARCH OUTPUTS.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO MAPPED IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

MAPPED SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY RESEARCH DECISIONS, CLINICAL OUTCOMES, PUBLICATION CONSEQUENCES, OR PROFESSIONAL RESULTS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Mapped Research LLC and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
• Any content you submit, upload, or transmit through the Service
• Any research conducted, conclusions drawn, or publications made using the Service or its outputs
• Any claim that Your Data or your use of the Service caused damage to a third party

By you: You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, you will have 30 days to export Your Data before it is permanently deleted.

By Mapped: We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, for violation of these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or for any other reason at our discretion. We may also terminate accounts that remain inactive for an extended period.

Effect: Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 3, 6, 7, 12, 13, 15, and 16 survive termination.

15.1 Governing Law. These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

15.2 Arbitration. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Commercial Arbitration Rules. The arbitration shall take place in Cheyenne, Wyoming, or at a location mutually agreed upon by the parties.

15.3 Class Action Waiver. You agree that any arbitration or proceeding shall be limited to the dispute between you and Mapped individually. To the fullest extent permitted by law, (a) no arbitration shall be joined with any other proceeding; (b) there is no right or authority for any dispute to be arbitrated on a class-action basis; and (c) there is no right or authority for any dispute to be brought in a purported representative capacity on behalf of the general public or any other persons.

15.4 Opt-Out. You may opt out of the arbitration and class action waiver provisions by sending written notice to legal@mappedresearch.com within 30 days of accepting these Terms. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The Service is provided from the United States and is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations. You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (b) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You further acknowledge that your use of the Service may involve cross-border data transfers subject to applicable restrictions, and you represent that your use of the Service does not violate any applicable data transfer restrictions in your jurisdiction.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice via email or through the Service before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and close your account.
